Actually, I play a synthesized keyboard for most of my recordings. It’s amazing how many instruments it can simulate, allowing me to create a diverse range of sounds and styles that bring my music to life. Throughout my life, I have played guitar, piano, and percussion, each offering a unique avenue for self-expression and creativity. I still play these instruments at home now as I explore new pieces and genres, experimenting with different textures and harmonies. I also think of the singing voice as an instrument in its own right, rich with emotion and nuance. Interestingly, at a military service at which I sang, a woman came up to me afterwards and said my voice is the only musical instrument I need. While I appreciate such a kind compliment, I’m not sure about that, as my recordings would probably get stale very fast without instrumental accompaniment; the layered melodies and rhythms created through various instruments elevate the overall experience, making it more dynamic and engaging for listeners while allowing me to constantly evolve as an artist.
